John Curley has always had a passion for numbers, initially surprising everyone by choosing to pursue farming. While successfully managing his rural enterprise, he also studied financial planning at Monitor Money, which sparked his interest in finance. To further challenge himself, John completed an MBA with a focus on Accounting at the University of New England, where he was recognised for achieving the best academic results.

After completing a professional year to qualify as a Chartered Accountant, John earned his Master of Tax from the University of New South Wales. He became a practice partner in 2002 and embraced Xero in 2013, leading to the establishment of his own practice in 2014. Excited by innovative business practices, John transitioned fully to the Xero platform, moving away from traditional servers.

As a former farmer, John has a unique ability to connect with rural clients. His background in financial planning enriches his expertise in self-managed superannuation funds, an area he is particularly passionate about. John is also enthusiastic about technology and believes that cloud accounting will revolutionise the way businesses operate, including in rural areas. However, he acknowledges that infrastructure challenges in the countryside can sometimes slow this progress.
